Today, NovaCast makes it easy to enjoy many of those classic TV favorites again.
There was something special about television in those days. Families often gathered around the TV at night to watch the same shows. There were no hundreds of streaming choices or shows to watch whenever you wanted. When your favorite program came on, you made sure you were in front of the television!
Remember These Classic Shows?
Some of the most popular TV series from the 1960s and 1970s are still loved today.
Fans of comedy may remember The Andy Griffith Show, with Andy, Barney, Aunt Bee, and the people of Mayberry. Another favorite was The Beverly Hillbillies, which followed the funny adventures of the Clampett family after they became rich.
Then there was I Dream of Jeannie, about an astronaut whose life changed when he found a magical genie. Bewitched, about a witch trying to live a normal life, was another huge hit.
If you liked action and adventure, there were plenty of choices. Mission: Impossible kept viewers guessing as a team took on dangerous missions. Hawaii Five-O brought police action and adventure from the beautiful islands of Hawaii.
Science fiction fans had their favorites, too. Star Trek took viewers into space and introduced characters like Captain Kirk, Spock, and Dr. McCoy. The Twilight Zone gave viewers strange and exciting stories that often had a surprise ending.
The 1970s brought even more shows that became part of American television history. Happy Days introduced viewers to Richie Cunningham and the very cool Fonzie. The Brady Bunch followed a blended family and became one of the best-known family shows on television.
Other popular favorites included M*A*S*H, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, All in the Family, The Waltons, Charlie's Angels, and The Rockford Files.
Why Watch Them Again?
Watching an old favorite can be like opening a family photo album. You may remember where you were when you first watched it. You may remember who watched it with you. You may even remember the music or opening song.
Classic television also gives younger viewers a chance to see the shows their parents and grandparents enjoyed.
